UHY Advisors’ David Barton Frames Security, Legal Issues in Era of Cloud Computing at Tech Summit

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 15, 2011 – UHY Advisors’ David Barton, with Amanda Witt of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, will deliver the keynote address, “Framing Legal and Security Issues in An Era of Cloud Computing,” at the July 22 Atlanta Technology Summit.  Designed for both business and technical leaders, the event provides guidance on best practice strategies to protect sensitive data. Leading CIOs, security experts and professional advisors will take on the challenges of data security in a world of cloud computing at the gathering, beginning at 8:30 a.m. the Atlanta Marriott Norcross Hotel (475 Technology Parkway, Norcross, 30092).

Cloud computing is gaining momentum as a cost-effective alternative to traditional IT infrastructure, with the market for cloud services forecast to grow to over $241 billion this year. However, a recent study by Accenture shows that IT departments are still reluctant to move to the cloud, due to privacy, lock-in, and security issues.

Barton and Witt will take on the topic of the changing security landscape as they outline concerns and discuss strategies for negotiating best-in-class Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with cloud service providers.

“As more organizations hand off their data to cloud providers, SLAs between providers and consumers are where the rubber meets the road,” says Barton. “Organizations and CIOs need to be anticipating and planning their cloud security road map today for major changes that will take shape over the next one to three years.”
